The defending champions opened their campaign with a commanding 90–22 victory over Tanzania on Saturday, 19 September, setting the tone for their title defence.
They followed up with another impressive performance on Sunday, defeating Zimbabwe 58–41 to maintain their unbeaten start to the tournament. The Proteas controlled the match from the opening quarter and held a 29–17 advantage at half-time before going on to secure their second consecutive win.
The victory over Zimbabwe was also a special occasion for Refiloe Nketsa, who earned her 50th international cap for the SPAR Proteas.
With two wins from two matches, South Africa currently sit at the top of Pool 1 with four points, while Namibia and Zimbabwe are also among the teams competing for the leading positions in the group.
The SPAR Proteas will return to action on Tuesday, 22 September, when they take on Botswana at 16:00 South African time. They will then face Namibia on Wednesday as they continue their push to retain the continental crown.
The 2026 Africa Netball Cup is taking place in Nairobi from 19–26 September, with the tournament also serving as part of the African qualification pathway for the 2027 Netball World Cup.
