The defending champions have now maintained their unbeaten start to the tournament, following earlier victories over Tanzania and Zimbabwe. South Africa opened their campaign with a commanding 90–22 win over Tanzania before overcoming Zimbabwe 58–41 in their second Pool 1 match.
The latest victory over Botswana keeps the SPAR Proteas firmly in contention as they continue their title defence at the continental tournament. The competition is being held at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, in Nairobi and runs until 26 September.
With another win secured, attention now turns to their final Pool 1 fixture against Namibia on Wednesday. The SPAR Proteas will take to the court at 5pm as they look to finish the pool stage on a strong note and carry their winning momentum into the knockout stages.
South Africa have also used the tournament as an opportunity to give several players valuable international experience, with new faces making their mark alongside the more experienced members of the squad.
The SPAR Proteas will face Namibia on Wednesday at 5pm before the tournament moves into the semi-final stage, with the final scheduled for 26 September.
