The victory ended a 16-year wait for Commonwealth gold for the Silver Ferns, whose last triumph came in Delhi in 2010.
The final also marked a historic milestone for Jamaica. The Sunshine Girls reached the Commonwealth Games final for the first time after stunning defending champions Australia 46-45 in a dramatic semi-final, ending the Diamonds’ run of appearing in every Commonwealth Games netball final since the sport was introduced in 1998. Although Jamaica fell short of the title, their silver medal represents one of the country’s greatest achievements in international netball.
Australia responded to their semi-final disappointment by securing the bronze medal with victory over England, while the Roses finished fourth after narrowly missing out on the podium.
South Africa also had a tournament to remember, ending fifth after a series of determined performances. The SPAR Proteas once again proved they can compete with the world’s leading nations and will take valuable experience from their Glasgow campaign as they continue building towards future international competitions.

Australia entered the Glasgow Games as the defending Commonwealth champions, having won the gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham after defeating Jamaica in the final.
