The Galaxy Queens made the most of their opportunity at the Sol Plaatjie University Sports Fields, with Nomvula Kgoale and Alicia Terhart finding the back of the net to secure a fourth win of the campaign.
The victory moved TS Galaxy to within two points of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, who remain top of the Super Era Stream on 15 points with a game in hand.
Sundowns were unavailable for the Kimberley festival as they were competing in the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifying tournament in Botswana.
While TS Galaxy celebrated another important result, Stellenbosch’s difficult campaign continued. The Cape Winelands side suffered their sixth consecutive defeat and remain without a point.
There were, however, encouraging signs from Stellenbosch under new co-coaches Ilze Jones and Shannon Mills, with the team creating opportunities but lacking the finishing touch.
TS Galaxy’s midfield played a key role in the victory, with Lesego Nkoane putting in an impressive performance to earn Player of the Match recognition.
Her creativity and ability to play incisive passes helped the Galaxy Queens unlock the Stellenbosch defence and maintain control of the match.
