With tactical plans that may include fielding two strikers up front, the Magpies are keen to recruit a forward who can complement Alexander Isak, who remains at the heart of Howe’s offensive setup.
Brentford’s Yoane Wissa has emerged as a leading candidate. The 28-year-old forward had an impressive season, netting 19 goals in the Premier League. Wissa is reportedly interested in joining Newcastle, attracted by the club’s growing ambitions and their return to European competition.

Wissa’s speed, tireless work rate, and goal-scoring instinct make him an appealing prospect. Brentford are believed to be open to a transfer if their valuation -approximately fifty million pounds – is met.
However, Newcastle’s efforts are complicated by financial constraints under the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), and by the challenge of convincing top strikers to play a potentially reduced role behind Isak in a single-striker formation.
In addition to Wissa, the club is monitoring several other targets. One of them is 23-year-old Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt. While he is open to a move to the Premier League, his one hundred million euro release clause could present a significant obstacle.

Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins is also on the club’s radar. However, Villa are reluctant to sell, and it would likely take a bid in the region of ninety million pounds to prompt any negotiations.
Former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, now a free agent, has already held preliminary talks with Newcastle. His availability on a free transfer makes him an attractive option given the club’s budgetary limits.
