Smith has been one of South Africa’s brightest defensive talents, having played provincial netball from the age of 13 before making her senior debut in 2020. Since then, she has gone on to cement her place in the SPAR Proteas squad, featuring at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Netball World Cup on home soil in Cape Town, where she impressed with her composure and defensive strength.

The 25-year-old’s 2025 season began on a tough note after she sustained a broken arm during the international Sunshine Series against Jamaica. The injury ruled her out of action for a significant spell, but her recovery and determination have seen her return stronger, eager to contribute both for club and country.
Thunder head coach and supporters alike will be delighted to have Smith back in the squad, as her versatility and international experience add depth and resilience to the defensive unit. With a fresh season ahead, Smith will be aiming to make a strong impact and help Thunder chase silverware in 2026.
