Kapp ruled out as Proteas Women name squad for Pakistan ODI Series

Marizanne Kapp has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Women’s Championship One-Day International series against Pakistan women's national cricket team, scheduled from 22 February to 01 March.

The South Africa women’s national cricket team all-rounder has been sidelined due to illness after experiencing discomfort shortly after completing her spell during the first innings of the third T20 International in Benoni on Monday. Following further medical assessments, the team’s medical staff opted to rest her as a precaution.

In her place, DP World Lions bowling all-rounder and former SA U19 Women standout Fay Cowling has earned her maiden national call-up after impressing at last month’s national training camp in Tshwane.

The ODI squad will be led by captain Laura Wolvaardt, alongside a strong group of players including Tazmin Brits, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Lara Goodall, Ayanda Hlubi, Sinalo Jafta, Suné Luus, Karabo Meso, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukhune, Nondumiso Shangase, Chloé Tryon and Faye Tunnicliffe.

The series forms an important part of the ICC Women’s Championship, as South Africa look to build momentum and continue their strong performances on home soil. Meanwhile, Cowling’s inclusion marks an exciting opportunity for the young all-rounder to make her mark on the international stage.
