Dembélé and Bonmatí claim top honours at 69th Ballon d’Or Awards

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé won his first Ballon d’Or on Monday, while Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmatí secured her third consecutive Ballon d’Or Féminin at the annual awards ceremony in Paris.

The 69th edition of the event was staged at the Théâtre du Châtelet, where the hometown crowd celebrated Dembélé’s triumph after a standout season with PSG.

The 28-year-old played 29 league matches, scoring 21 goals, but his most decisive contributions came in the Champions League. Dembélé scored eight times and provided six assists in 15 matches, leading PSG to their first-ever Champions League title.

Primarily known as a winger, he was often deployed as a central striker by coach Luis Enrique, forming part of a front three alongside Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Bonmatí’s win underlined her continued dominance in the women’s game. The Barcelona star has now won the Ballon d’Or Féminin three times in a row, reaffirming her status as one of the best midfielders in the world.
