The 31-year-old joins on a two-year contract, with an option to extend for a third. The agreement includes an initial fee of ten million pounds, with a further five million pounds in potential performance-related add-ons.
Norgaard, who joined Brentford from Fiorentina in 2019, quickly became a key figure in the team. He captained the side and made 196 appearances across all competitions.
Although Arsenal had shown interest in Sevilla’s French midfielder Lucien Agoumé, manager Mikel Arteta opted for Norgaard, favouring a player already proven in the Premier League.

Reflecting on the move, Norgaard expressed his joy at fulfilling a lifelong ambition.
“I got almost emotional,” he said. “I’ve just turned 31 and had signed a new deal with Brentford. There was always a slight chance of playing Champions League football with them, but it wasn’t very realistic. Now I get to hear the anthem and be part of a Champions League campaign. It’s a childhood dream I never thought would come true, and I’m really, really happy.”
Norgaard played an instrumental role in Brentford’s promotion to the Premier League in 2021 and made 122 appearances in the top flight.
He is Arsenal’s third signing of the summer as the club continues to strengthen ahead of the new season.
