Brentford continued their fine start to the Premier League season with a convincing 3-1 victory over Southampton at the Brentford Community Stadium on Saturday.
The Bees were on the front foot from the start, and their high-pressing game caused Southampton all sorts of problems. Thomas Frank’s side took the lead in the 43rd minute through Bryan Mbeumo, who finished off a flowing move with a cool finish.

Mbuemo would bag his brace five minutes after the hour mark in clinical fashion as he swept home at the far post.
Brentford wrapped up the points four minutes later when Yoane Wissa got his name on the score sheet with a well taken goal to put daylight between the two teams. The Saints would get a consolation in the 95th minute when Yukinari Sugawara pulled one back for the travelling outfit.
This was a thoroughly deserved victory for Brentford, who were the better team on the day. Southampton simply could not cope with the Bees’ intensity and pressing, and they were fortunate not to lose by a bigger margin.
