Arsenal breeze past Tottenham in North London Derby

Arsenal racked up a third consecutive victory on the road to cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspurs in the Premier League with a solid 1-0 win on Sunday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta’s men scored in the 64th minute when Gabriel Magalhaes shrugged of his marker in Cristian Romero to tower home a header from inside the six yard box.

The visitors barely had to get out of first gear with Ange Postecoglou’s side posing very little threat despite having the lions share of the football. Magalhaes would prove vital inside his own box as well, putting in a defensive performance that was second to none. The bullish defender has become an integral part of Arteta’s side.

Arsenal were without key personnel and managed to put in a solid performance against their bitter rivals, who were boosted by the return of marquee signing Dominik Solanke and Micky Van de Ven.

The Gunners are on the road again this week as a midweek Champions League date with Atalanta is next on the agenda on Thursday evening, before returning to England for a crunch tie against title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.
