The 24-year-old speedster has earned her place in South Africa’s squad for the second leg of the HSBC SVNS World Championship in Valladolid, where the Springbok Women will face some of the sport’s biggest names in the USA, Australia and Fiji.
While Wegdraai, home to just over 2,000 residents on the banks of the Gariep River, is better known for agriculture than elite sport, Boer is fast becoming one of its proudest exports.
Although Boer is no stranger to the sevens environment, the upcoming tournament represents a major milestone. She featured for South Africa in the 2025 Sevens Challenger Series in Poland, the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens Championship and SVNS 3 tournaments, but a knee injury ruled her out of the demanding SVNS 2 campaign.
Now fully recovered, she is eager to make her mark.

Boer’s rugby journey began at Groblershoop High School, where she first discovered her passion for the game. The connection was immediate and her talent quickly became evident.
Her progress through the provincial ranks included selections for Griquas U16 and U18 Youth Training Centre squads and appearances at national age-group tournaments.
The pathway continued at North-West University in Potchefstroom, where Boer balanced her studies with rugby despite disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Once competition resumed, she became a regular for the university women’s side before progressing to the Leopards provincial team.
National recognition soon followed through the South African Universities squad before the long-awaited Springbok Women’s Sevens call arrived – fittingly as she completed her teaching degree.
Boer made an immediate impact, scoring a try on debut in Krakow before helping South Africa lift the SVNS 3 title in Dubai. However, her progress was temporarily halted after suffering the knee injury that required surgery.

Now, with months of recovery and preparation behind her, Boer believes she is ready.
“We prepared well after Hong Kong and had valuable time together as a squad,” she said before departure.
Playing in the sweeper role, Boer understands the demands ahead but welcomes the challenge.
“They are the best in the world and testing yourself against them is what every player dreams of. I trust my defence and love a good tackle. I’m ready.”
