De Bruin Praises Women’s Super League as Daisies Dominate Again

Head coach of the Springbok Women, Swys de Bruin, has praised both the players and management of the eight provincial teams that competed in the 2026 Pick n Pay Women’s Super League 1, highlighting the tournament’s role in identifying new talent and strengthening the national setup.

De Bruin reserved special recognition for the Isuzu Bulls Daisies, who secured their fourth consecutive title in dominant fashion.

“The Daisies have set the standard for the rest. They were consistent throughout the season and delivered high-quality performances week in and week out,” he said.

“They played with great pace and intensity, showing exactly what is required to succeed at the highest level.”

He also noted the encouraging form of several players who featured in last year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup, saying their strong performances carried through into the domestic competition.

De Bruin extended his appreciation to the tournament’s partners, including Pick n Pay, Vodacom, and other sponsors for their continued support of women’s rugby.

Looking ahead, the Springbok Women will hold their first training camp of the year next week, with the coach optimistic about building on the momentum generated by the league.

“We have a challenging season ahead as we step up into the top tier of international rugby. It’s encouraging to see that many players are already battle-ready,” he added.

The Daisies not only went through the season unbeaten but also dominated the scoring charts. Jakkie Cilliers once again led the points tally, contributing 88 points through 31 conversions and four tries.

On the try-scoring front, Thobile Msizazwe stood out, finishing as the top scorer with 12 tries.

Overall, the competition delivered thrilling action, with a total of 1,634 points scored, including 264 tries and 136 conversions, keeping fans entertained across the country.
