Proteas Women take a stand against GBV on Black Day in Durban

The Proteas Women will take a powerful stand against gender-based violence (GBV) when they face Pakistan in a One Day International on Saturday, 1 March, at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban.

The match, which gets underway at 10:00, forms part of the annual Black Day event, an initiative led by Cricket South Africa and the Proteas Women to raise awareness around one of South Africa’s most pressing societal challenges.

On Black Day, the Proteas Women will don black kits as a symbol of solidarity with survivors and a call to action against GBV. The campaign highlights the devastating and long-lasting psychological impact of gender-based violence, an indefensible act that affects individuals across all communities, regardless of race, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. Women and children remain the most vulnerable.

The fixture forms part of South Africa’s inbound bilateral ODI series against Pakistan, providing a meaningful platform to combine elite international cricket with advocacy for social change.
