Hailing from Badirile in Randfontein, Gauteng, Motlhalo (27) the forward player for the national team grew up surrounded by stories of footballing dreams and legacy.
Her father, Johannes Motlhalo, once chased the dream of turning professional, while her uncle, Joseph Motlhalo, lived it guarding the posts for Kaizer Chiefs from 1970 to 1985.
Known affectionately as the “Randfontein Ronaldinho” for her dazzling footwork and flair, Motlhalo has become one of South Africa’s most gifted football exports.

Her journey began to take shape at TuksSport High School, where she was part of the South African High Performance Centre in Pretoria, a breeding ground for elite athletes. It was there that her technical brilliance, vision, and composure on the ball began to set her apart.
Motlhalo’s professional career has been nothing short of eventful. After stints in various international leagues, she made headlines again when she signed with Glasgow City in January 2023. The move proved golden just months later, on 21 May 2023, Motlhalo assisted the title-winning goal in stoppage time as Glasgow City beat Rangers 1–0 at Ibrox Stadium to clinch the Scottish Women’s Premier League title. She was named Player of the Match, capping off an unforgettable debut season.
Her performances caught attention across the Atlantic, and in January 2024, she signed a two-year deal with Racing Louisville FC in the U.S. National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). While her time there was brief with just three appearances before mutually parting ways in early 2025 – it marked another chapter in her growing global footprint.

Back home, she remains a crucial figure for Banyana Banyana, where she proudly dons the iconic number 10 jersey a symbol of creativity and leadership. Her control in midfield, quick feet, and eye for goal have made her one of the most admired and consistent players in South African women’s football.
Off the field, Linda’s calm demeanour and radiant personality make her a fan favourite. Although reports have surfaced about her being in a serious relationship and possibly preparing for marriage, the star remains tight-lipped about her personal life choosing instead to let her football do the talking.
As for her financial success, estimates of her net worth range between R18 million and R93 million, a testament to the global recognition her skill has earned. But ask Motlhalo what drives her, and it’s unlikely she’ll mention money or fame. For her, it’s always been about pride for her family, her hometown, and her country.
