Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has officially completed a permanent transfer to Premier League side Brentford, signing a five-year contract with the club.

The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international, who served as backup to Alisson Becker at Liverpool, will take over from Mark Flekken, who has departed Brentford to join Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen.

Reflecting on his move, Kelleher said, “Leaving Liverpool wasn’t a tough decision for me. I felt the time was right to become a first-choice goalkeeper and get regular playing time. When I learned Brentford was interested, I was very excited and eager to finalize the deal.”

During his five years at Anfield, Kelleher made 25 Premier League appearances and featured in over 40 cup matches. He was part of squads that won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, two League Cups, and the UEFA Super Cup.

Brentford’s Director of Football, Phil Giles, commented: “We have followed Caoimhin for some time and knew he had just one year left on his Liverpool contract. When Mark Flekken moved to Bayer Leverkusen, Caoimhin was our immediate choice as a replacement.

“Not only is he a talented goalkeeper, but he also comes highly praised for his character and personality. I’m confident he will be a fantastic addition to our team.”
